About the Magic Roundabout The show was created as Le Manège enchanté by Serge Danot in France in October 1964. When it crossed the English Channel and into the United Kingdom in October 1965, it was called The Magic Roundabout by the BBC. In the English version, Eric Thompson rewrote the stories to fit with the show's animation. The original series used stop-motion puppet animation before the reboot series later used CGI animation.
