"Rusty's House" (French: La maison du Père Pivoine, 3) is an episode of the second series of The Magic Roundabout. In the UK, it was the 24th episode to be broadcast of that series, with Eric Thompson's narration. It was later re-narrated by Nigel Planer, retitled "Mr Rusty's New House", and broadcast for Channel 4 as the 34th episode of the 1992 series on 18 February 1992.

Plot[]

At the roundabout, Florence greets Mr Rusty, who wonders if he should move to a new house. He says that he's lived in the same location for a long time and could use something more spacious. Zebedee arrives to agree that he definitely needs a change of address. Florence warns Mr Rusty not to do anything rash, but Zebedee says they should at least have a look around, as they all leave for the garden to go house hunting.

In the garden, they are greeted by Dougal, who says he has a spacious three-story family home in mind for Mr Rusty. The group heads over to the new house, being renovated by Ermintrude, Brian, Dylan, and Mr McHenry. Ermintrude says that versatile accommodations and benefits are provided, and Mr McHenry says there are south-facing windows. The Train gives his own input on the situation, saying a proper survey is needed before any decisions are made. As the gang continue giving their input on the house, Mr Rusty decides to take a look for himself, although Mr McHenry says some of the floorboards may need to be replaced. Zebedee also tells Mr Rusty that he can simply ask for financial assistance if he has trouble with mortgages and needs to borrow some money. Brian and Dylan are convinced that Mr Rusty likes the new house, and sure enough, he does, announcing he'll take it. Suddenly though, the house disappears, much to Florence's relief. The Train suspects that someone else must've bought it first, which he considers lucky, as he lists all the things that may have been wrong with the house.
